What is the Tax Clearance Certificate?
A tax clearance certificate is a certificate issued by the Cyprus Tax Department following the examination of an individual’s tax forms, which confirms that all his/her tax obligations have been submitted and settled.
Why is it needed?
As per Cyprus tax legislation, Cyprus tax residents pay taxes in Cyprus on worldwide income earned.
Therefore, in order to avoid paying taxes twice (both in Cyprus and abroad), foreign Tax Authorities usually request this certificate to confirm that you have already paid all your taxes (in Cyprus).
